Hi, I’m Abra!
Photographer & Art Educator
Hello! Let me start by introducing my name - is pronounced with a long “A,” sounds like Abraham (minus the ham!). I am a pro-photographer and art educator (MFA) who believes in the power of photography to make people (and pets!) feel great about themselves, and their accomplishments.
I have worked in professional photography for over 15 years. Along the way I have gained invaluable experience in the areas of studio lighting, retouching, and stress-free posing that looks natural and true to each client. Some of these skills are purely technical, but most are about the intuitive connections that I make with each person I photograph. At the end of the day, this is about YOU.
I love getting to know my clients so that I can bring out their best in front of the camera.
Here are a few Fun Facts about me:
I learned photography working with black and white film in a darkroom. I did this for seven years before I even picked up a Digital Camera! Yes, that was quite a while ago.
In my previous career, I worked in food advertising. I’m still amazed by the creative food hacks I learned working alongside food stylists. A blow-torch can work wonders on a pepperoni pizza!
I am from Nashville, TN, and a few places in between. My dad was in the Air Force for 20 years, so we traveled a bit growing up, but I am proud to call Nashville home.
My husband and I met in grad school where we both earned Master of Fine Art degrees in Photography. Our mutual love of the arts and higher education brought us back to Logan’s hometown of Jacksonville in 2012 for teaching positions at local universities. Logan now works for Sally Dark Rides –a dream job for comic book loving, big kid, like him!
When I’m not photographing, I’m teaching photography and design to local businesses, entrepreneurs and those who just want to learn new creative skills. Teaching continues to be one of the greatest joys of my career, because it allows me the opportunity to help others, while continuing to challenge myself creatively.
I’m a stickler for details. It’s a blessing and a curse – but no matter what I strive to do my very best for each client.
