From the Shelter to the Studio | Rescue Dog Photo Shoot, Jacksonville, FL
/Have you adopted a dog or cat from a Jacksonville area shelter or rescue center? If so, kudos to You and congrats on your incredible new family member!
Bringing home a pet that has previously faced any sort of trauma, comes with a new required level of patience and empathy from its’ new caretakers. As your new pup settles into his forever home, he or she will begin to reveal their true personality over the course of a few weeks, or perhaps a few months. Every dog or cat is different, but as their caretaker you will know when the time is right to introduce them to new experiences.
Have you considered a photo shoot for your new bestie?
Pssst… keep reading there is a special offer at the bottom of this blog for a discount on your new family member’s photo shoot!
We have photographed many rescue dogs over the years in our safe, secure studio environment and I will admit they are some of my absolute favorite photo shoots of all time.
My #1 reason for loving rescue pet sessions so much….
It is how YOU, the pup’s owner reacts to the many expressions and loving (or sometimes goofy) glances your dog reveals during these photo shoots! Surprising pet owners and loving on their pets, is really the best part of my job.
How do you know if your rescue dog is ready for a professional photo shoot?
Well, I speak with every new client over the phone before a photoshoot. During this phone call we’ll chat about your pet’s personality, and any triggers, or fears they may have. You are also welcome to bring your pet by the studio for an in-person meet and greet to see if we’ll be a great fit. During our call or meet and greet, we will quickly establish whether a pet photo shoot is right for your pup, and when to schedule the photo shoot.
We conduct 99% of our pet photo shoots in our safe, secure studio environment – free of outside distractions, groups of people, or other dogs. The experience is about You, and Your Pet(s) – that’s it. As you can imagine, your pup is showered with love during this time! We have cozy furniture and rugs for your dog to lounge about on, they receive loads of belly rubs, and treats (with your permission) as positive reinforcement for their all those loving glances.
Now, Let’s talk about this Handsome Hound!
Meet Cedric, he is an English Fox Hound, rescued from London Sanctuary, a dedicated Hound Rescue in Glen Saint Mary, Florida.
Cedric is a total gentleman. He has a very calm demeanor but is still a bit nervous in large group environments. When chatting with Cedric’s mom Jess before his photo shoot, she mentioned that Cedric feels most secure in smaller social environments, and that her main concern was that his training with basic commands isn’t quite there yet. She said that they are still working on Sit, Stay, Down, etc., and wondered if this would compromise the photo shoot experience. My answer was No, not at all!
It is amazing how well your pet will perform during their studio session, regardless of how much or how little training they have received. This is part of that WOW factor that I love surprising dog owners with. Not only did Cedric sit, stay, and lay down for us during his photo shoot, he showed off all sorts of angles and great expressions for the camera, even modeling this fabulous fall scarf that fits his personality perfectly. Our client’s reaction was total disbelief! She didn’t know if she should laugh, cry, or do both simultaneously! We all had a wonderful experience working with Cedric, as we do with all our pet clients :)
