Backdrop Colors For Your Next Studio Headshot Session | Jacksonville Headshot Photography
/There are several factors to consider when choosing colors for your next studio headshot session, some of these include; your Profession, Personal Style, and how you plan to use your images. Not sure? That’s a-ok! I will talk you through all of these considerations during your phone consultation. This post features my most popular backdrop colors for all types of studio sessions, from the strictly business headshot, to a mix of modeling/acting headshots, personal, and brand photography.
PURE WHITE & WARM/COOL WHITE
Pure White, shown in the first two images are shot almost always out of necessity, and rarely out of desire for a pure white backdrop. Often times, when clients request Pure White it is because they need an image that can be easily cut-out for use in industry-specific business collateral, or for television and video production. Pure White tends to make subjects look very contrasty - which can work well with the right outfit!
If you like the look of White, and want a backdrop that is more flattering to a variety of skin tones, I recommend Warm White. This versatile white has a touch of color, and can be easily warmed or cooled in post-production to flatter all skin tones.
OPEN STUDIO LOOKS
Below are two looks that utilize our existing wood plank studio walls, stained-concrete gray floors and bright, open window light. It is no secret that I am a bit of a crazy plant lady! A touch of gorgeous plant-life can add just the right amount of interest to your image. We can mock-up a faux office look upon request, or feel free to bring in some of your own office props.
LIGHT GRAY & DARK GRAY
Gray is VERY POPULAR, and for good reason, it is highly versatile! Light Gray, shown in the first three images, is a great option for most business portraits, and looks great on Websites, Linked-In, Business Collateral, etc. A mid-to-dark gray, shown in the last three images adds some depth and drama to a portrait, but is equally as professional in my opinion, as the light gray.
Notice how all of my grays are slightly different? I tone the backdrop in post-production a little lighter, darker, warmer, or cooler to compliment the client’s wardrobe and complexion. All of my post production retouch work is customized to the client - I do not believe in one-size fits all experiences, or retouching.
COLORFUL OPTIONS
If you are acquainted with my work, then you must know by now that I LOVE BOLD COLOR! Don’t be afraid to go a little wild, you might just surprise yourself with how dynamic you will look against one of these fantastic colors. Bright colors are absolutely suitable for Professional Headshots, Personal Brand Photography, Modeling and Acting Headshots. HOW MANY BACKDROP COLORS CAN I CHOOSE?
1-2 backdrops is well-suited for a one hour session. If you are booking a 1.5 hour session, you may choose up to 3 colors.
